Smart thinking for bright ideas

The Design Hub Norfolk County Council Hethel Engineering Centre

The Design Hub

The Design Hub was founded by ip21 in 2003 with funding from EEDA and support from The Design Council, Business Link and Norfolk County Council. Our purpose is to promote:

  • The use of design and designers

  • Prototyping

  • Management of design as a business process
The Design Hub is aimed primarily, but not exclusively, at lone inventors and very small businesses mainly in Norfolk. Norfolk County Council continues to support the project and we also have a close working relationship with the Centre for Engineering Excellence at Hethel, where design and innovation surgeries are held and clients seen. The Hethel centre can also be very helpful in the procurement of prototypes and engineering work. Under the umbrella of the Design Hub, a number of guidance documents have been created specifically for inventors and these can be accessed from the Innovation Guidance page. To request a free and confidential meeting with our design advisor – Alan Eklid, please contact ip21, using any of the options shown on our Contact Us page. Advice from the Design Hub is confidential and free, but other services may attract a fee. Design Hub funding is regrettably unable to assist with grant applications but can advise on them in general.
